REPRESENTING UTOPIA

WORKSHOP AT TOWNHOUSE GALLERY IN CAIRO, 2010

Create, transform, represent. A workshop about turning ordinary objects into art. In this case turning a ping pong bat into a piece of art, which has to be functional in an game of ping pong. Throughout art history the world of sports has been an inspiration and tool for the production of artworks. This workshop is also about representation. In any sport event, as well as in any creation of art, one always represents oneself or the team one plays for. In this workshop all artistic players will be representing Utopia – an idea of a perfect world.
